Before you buy
Use the estimate for planning, then confirm the design and order details locally.
There is no single price for every driveway. Area, thickness, local ready-mix prices, delivery, labor, site preparation, forms, and reinforcement all affect the total. Enter local rates above for a planning estimate, then confirm the scope and quote with a local contractor.
Four inches is a common starting point for residential driveways carrying passenger vehicles. Soil, climate, drainage, local requirements, and heavier vehicles can change the design. Confirm the thickness and reinforcement with local code guidance or a qualified contractor; this calculator does not design a slab.
Multiply length in feet by width in feet by thickness in inches, then divide by 324 to get the base cubic yards. Add a waste allowance for ordering. Measure each section separately if the driveway is irregular or has a wider apron.
A modest allowance can cover small measurement differences, spillage, and uneven edges. The example starts with 10%, but the right amount depends on the layout and supplier. Check the order quantity and delivery increments before buying.
The main factors are driveway area and depth, ready-mix price and delivery, labor, excavation and base preparation, drainage, access for trucks, forms, and reinforcement. Local soil, weather, permits, and finish choices may also change a contractor quote.
